With a heavy heart, on March 26 th at the age of 98, Sebastião Teixeira de Sousa “Tchotche” passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones.

Sebastião was born on October 5th, 1925, in São Filipe-Fogo, Cabo Verde to his parents João Jose de Sousa and Maria Teixeira de Sousa. After moving to Assomada Santa Catarina Cabo Verde, he married Maria Sena on July 27th, 1955, then moving to the United States in 1966, and settled in Pawtucket, RI where he worked at Levin Plating as a Plater for over 25 years until his retirement.
Sebastião is survived by his devoted wife, Maria Sena de Sousa; his children,; Erminalda Sousa Vicente, Carlos Alberto Sousa, Filomena Veloso Oliveira (Aniceto Oliveira), Maria Rosa Furtado (Anibal Furtado), Walter de Sousa, Lucilina de Sousa Silva (John Silva), Ireneia de Sousa Faria (Luis "Tó" Faria), Luis Monteiro, Dulce de Sousa, Carmen de Faria (Francisco “Jack” de Faria), John Sousa (Adelma Sousa); 24 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren that will miss their Vovo “Tchotche” He was predeceased by his brothers, Walter de Sousa and Jose Teixeira de Sousa, and sisters Erminalda Vasconcelos and Palmira Monteiro.

Sebastião loved to travel, making several trips back home to Cabo Verde, going to Portugal, taking various cruises, and long drives to Florida were his favorite. He enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets, often bragging about his haggling to his family that he got the best deal he could. Sebastião was also fond of going to Lincoln Downs to watch the dog races and dragging some of his family members to drive him to Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun and Atlantic City.

We will hold the memories made close to our hearts and take comfort in knowing you are finally resting in the loving arms of God.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited the attend visiting hours on Monday, April 1st from 5:00 pm–8:00pm at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln. His Funeral will begin on Tuesday, April 2nd in the Keefe Funeral Home at 9:00am followed by a funeral home service at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd, Providence RI 02906.
